How to put your record shelves up
Watch the video below to see step-by-step how to put your record shelves up. Please don’t press down directly on the tab as this can cause it to break.
Written Instructions
Find a suitable spot to display your records.
Measure out the area where you would like to hang your records.
Depending on your wall material will determine which fixing you will use. The Nylon Wall Plug supplied is used when hanging or attaching items to solid masonry walls to ensure fixings are secure and firmly anchored into place. If you have plasterboard or hollow walls, if you find the wall plug supplied does not grip or tighten when you screw your shelf into this, you made need a specific plasterboard/drywall or hollow wall plug.
Drill a pilot hole the correct size of the wall plug. The wall plug supplied is 6mm but we like to use a slightly smaller drill bit (5.5mm) first to ensure the hole is not too large for the wall plug.
Now take the screw provided and screw your shelf to the wall. Before you fully tighten your shelf, you can use a Spirit Level or smartphone with a level app on it to get your shelf straight. Once the shelf is level finish tightening your shelf BY HAND. If you use a power tool to tighten the shelf there is a risk of you cracking or damaging the shelf.
You can now carefully place your record on the shelf. The shelves are designed to display your record like this however you can use the self-adhesive top tab supplied to secure your record in place.
When fitting the tab simply peel the back, lean your record slightly off the wall and rest the tab on the top of the record in the centre of the sleeve. Carefully lean the record back towards the wall and before you stick the tab to the wall, lift the tab up just a few millimetres as this will allow a bit of freedom to slide your record in and out the shelf.
When sticking the tab to the wall, DO NOT press directly on the lip of the tab as such force can break the lip of the tab. Either press on the back of the tab or press the record sleeve against the back of the tab to stick it down.
Please note, the self-adhesive tab is very strong and if you do choose to take this off a mark may be left. Try to avoid pulling the tab directly off the wall if you do need to remove it. We advise using a craft knife to carefully cut the mounting tape off.
In the event you are moving home or would like to move your shelf and need a replacement tab, please just get in touch as we can supply these separately.
